Caddell strolled along the edge of the lake, letting his gaze fall alternately on the plants growing in the shallows and the ones growing in the shade of the trees.
He found one he wasn't certain of and knelt beside it, studying it. The downy, deep green leaves had unusually smooth edges. They were arranged in pairs and alternate at 90 degrees down the stalk. The purplish-pink flowers grow in groups on spikes that jut up into the air. Each flower had five to six petals surrounding a yellow center.
Pulling a small note pad and pencil case out of his pocket he settled cross legged on the ground beside it. Flipping them both open picked up a grey pencil and began to sketch He would look it up in the library later, maybe it could be of use to him.

Tara had finally managed to find her way out of the dungeons, and she had no desire to go back there immediately. Desperately needing some fresh air, she decided that the lake seemed to be an acceptable place to go, and so she did. As she walked around the lakeshore she spotted a boy with a notepad and pencil. It looked like he was drawing something, not writing. She walked closer to the boy. He seemed to be around her age. "Hi!" she said, enthusiastically. "What are you drawing?" she asked, trying to get a peek at his notepad.

Caddell listened to the footsteps approach but ignored them. He doubted anyone would give him a second glance. Not many did, unless it was to give him a hard time. And he figured they would be trying to be quiet if that was the case. He continued his sketching, putting the grey pencil back and selecting a green, one as close to the color of the leaves as he could judge and continued sketching. He jumped slightly when the girl spoke, but did not accept that she was speaking to him until she asked what he was drawing. He hesitated, then set his pencil down.
"I'm just drawing this plant." He turned and looked up at her, turning the pad so she could see it easily. "Do you know what this plant is?" He gestured to the plant next to him, gave her a half smile then dropped his gaze back to the pad.

Tara laughed, "I'm only a first year, I don't know anything about herbology, or plants in general." She looked around the area a bit, she'd never been down here before. "I'm Tara, by the way," she told the boy, introducing herself.
